Little Things

Little Things is an animated excerpt from Simon Sinek’s talk Love Your Work, originally presented at CreativeMornings in July 2012. I watched it around that time, and the part that ended up in the animation stayed with me ever since—one moment about how love, whether for a person or for our work, grows through small, repeated moments.

I tried concepting frames for it a few times over the years but never got far. In late 2024, I finally just started illustrating between jobs, without overthinking. For the first time, it moved forward.

When the animation was about 90 percent done, I hit a wall and started to dislike almost everything I had created. I put it aside for several months. Then, in July 2025, I picked it up again and decided to finish it.

The music, The Upper Sky by Rhian Sheehan, was something I had saved in my notes back in 2012. It still felt like the perfect match for the visuals and helped carry the message. Rhian kindly gave me permission to use it for this piece.

This project is as much about the message as it is about persistence.
